Magnetic Particle Inspection Arizona | Empire CAT

Magnaflux Inspection

If your production depends on precision machinery, serious problems to component parts can be accumulating without your even knowing it. Surface irregularities such as cracks, fissures and other discontinuities can begin at the microscopic level, leading to poor performance, breakdowns and other irregularities.

Empire Precision Machining (EPM) offers magnetic particle inspections for Arizona clients that can detect problems before they start, so you to take the corrective action that can save you money in the long run. With fast turnaround times, EPM allows you to make magnetic particle inspection of your critical components a part of your regular maintenance cycle without disrupting your production schedule.

Nondestructive Testing for Precision Components

Quality components are what keep your business running. Magnetic particle inspection is a form of nondestructive testing (NDT) that can identify flaws in your parts without subjecting them to heat or other forces that can compromise their integrity. EPM engineers and technicians are experts in NDT and can provide magnetic particle inspections for a wide variety of items made from ferroelectric materials.

Magnaflux Process

The Magnaflux Process

EPM employs Magnaflux magnetic particle inspection machines to provide the most accurate analysis of metal parts available. During Magnaflux testing, an electrical current is run through the part, magnetizing it. Any cracks or deformities in the part will cause the magnetic field to be disrupted, and when a magnetic particle is run over it — in the form of either a fine powder or metal suspended in liquid — these disruptions hold the particles in place, where they can be detected under fluorescent light. Magnafluxing allows us to not only identify the presence of deformities, but to also determine their shape, making them easier to repair.

Uses of Mag Particle Inspection

There are a number of scenarios in which a magnetic particle inspection can be useful. Aside from being an important part of the maintenance cycle of precision machinery, it is also useful for quality control and when overhauling or rebuilding industrial machinery. Many industries rely on regular Magnaflux inspections to keep their equipment running its best. At Empire Precision Machinery, our clients include organizations in the mining, construction, healthcare and agriculture sectors.
