Empire offers a two-day training course designed for service personnel to gain knowledge and develop skills on powertrain systems. The course includes the discussion of the fundamentals of power flow, the application to components and systems, and theory & hands-on lab exercises.

• Types of powertrains
• Powertrain efficiency
• Gear designs and ratios
• Planetary gear sets
• Clutches, disk, plates, and friction compounds
• Torque convertors, torque dividers, impeller clutches, lockup clutches
• Powershift Transmission Controls
• ECPC controls

While Empire instructors teach on Cat equipment, the knowledge gained from the course can be applied to other heavy equipment manufacturers.
